Lorelei Farm (pronounced lor-eh-lie) is family owned and operated. We specialize in breeding, training, and showing Welsh Ponies and Riding Ponies for children and adults alike. We occasionally offer Welsh & Riding Ponies for sale from foals up to mature ponies.
Our farm is named after our daughter, who was our inspiration to get into pony breeding more seriously. We knew before she was born that we needed to find the perfect pony for her to learn to ride on since we both grew up surrounded by the passion for horses. We had very specific criteria: The pony must have a kind, forgiving temperament to allow for mistakes, correct conformation that would allow versatility in different disciplines, and just enough character for the two of them to make fun and enjoyable memories during her childhood years.
At that point, it was a no-brainer that the Welsh Ponies were the PERFECT start! We searched and searched and finally found the perfect mare to buy. Knowing that one day we may want to breed for our own foal, we were very picky about each mare's attributes, making sure that they were high enough quality that we would want to see duplicated.
After our first mare arrived, we couldn't believe how incredible she was. The ponies we grew up around had the reputation of being naughty tricksters, so we were expecting a stubborn pony to step off the trailer. We were so pleasantly surprised at her laid-back temperament and intelligence that we had to know -- Where can we find another?
The wonderful Welsh Pony breed had pulled us in, and there was no going back. After searching all of North America and Europe to find the best mares available to add to our program, we have come up with small but wonderful mare base for our program. We strive for excellence by following the breed standards, and selecting stallions for each individual mare by weighing the strengths and weaknesses from both angles. We take joy in training and showing our ponies on the WPCSA and USHJA circuits in the southeast.
We are currently located in Canton, Georgia, which is just 45 minutes north of Atlanta. We will be moving to a new location in 2015 to Hernando, Mississippi, which will allow us more room to grow our program.
